AIR TRAVEL TIPS

Do’s and Don’t's


DO's


  • Carry a valid ID card. Click here for List of Valid ID cards acceptable for entry at airport.
  • Carry only the luggage known to you.
  • Check the allowable weight limit as per the airlines to be carried as check-in baggage.
  • Ensure that you carry only one hand baggage weighing not more than 8 Kgs. A laptop, a ladies purse or baby stroller is allowed apart from the above handbag.
  • Carry items which are safe from security angle. Click here for list of items not allowed in handbags and check-in baggage.
  • Be in possession of valid arms license in case you carry a licensed fire arms. The fire arms are allowed in registered baggage, as per rule.
  • Place all non essential items in registered baggage. Submit all declaration as per the requirement of the Airlines concerned.
  • Assist security personnel in carrying out mandatory security checks. Prior to security checks, place all metallic items such as watch, wallet etc. in the handbag.
  • Declare in case of any prosthetics, so that necessary care can be provided by security personnel while frisking.
  • Put all undeveloped films and cameras with film in your Cabin (carry-on) baggage. Checked baggage screening equipment may damage undeveloped films.
  • Place identification tags on all your baggage. Don't forget to label your laptop computer. This is one of the most forgotten items at Screening Checkpoints.
  • Check for the boarding gate and wait for the boarding.

Don't's


  • Do not carry packed gifts, without verifying the contents.
  • Do not carry a Xerox copy of ID card. A Xerox copy is not acceptable for entry at airports.
  • Do not carry heavy luggage while travelling. In case it exceeds allowable limit, you may have to bear additional freight charges, as per the rates decided by airlines.
  • Do not carry security restricted items in hand bags or check-in luggage.
  • Do not get under influence of Alcohol/ Drugs while traveling by air. This may become the reason to offload you.
  • Do not carry dangerous goods such as acid, inflammable items etc in the check-n baggage.
  • Do not forget to inform the security about implants, prosthetics etc in the body. You may be required to carry doctors advise in such cases.
  • Do not leave your baggage unattended
  • Do not accept baggage from strangers. It may contain prohibited items or dangerous goods.
  • Do not move far away from the boarding gates. The airlines may leave you in case you fail to report at the boarding gate on time.
